When completed this will be a concours quality restoration of a 50k mile motorcar.Our goal is for this to be the best example extant.NOTE: All photos in our gallery show the car BEFORE restoration!!! We have not photographed the car since completion of the restoration!This 1949 Lincoln Cosmopolitan Convertible comes to us asa magnificent four-owner icon. This car was bought on April 2, 1949 at the Adams-Bailey Co Lincoln Dealership located in Battlecreek, Michigan. Can you imagine the amazement for the dealership to receive a 49 Lincoln Cosmopolitan Convertible to sell? We do not know if this was custom ordered by the original owners. This was bought new by the family that owned, amongst other things, the American Stamping Company located at 310 E. Burnham in Battlecreek, Michigan.This was evidently owned afterward by a Doctor in Battlecreek and perhaps one other owner. It is in the 1950s that the ownership chain is fuzzy.By the early 1960s a large collector of cars, J Evans also from Battlecreek, that owned Automotive Parts Stores and a wrecking yard, acquired the Cosmo Convertible. He held onto the car for the next 40 years! During his ownership the car was maintained totally original except some repair work and maintenance to prevent any damage from extensive storage.This car never left Battlecreek until the Spring of 2005 when Mr. Evans sold the car to Stephan Paradine from Lake Station, Indiana. Mr. Evans was by then very elderly, in a walker and nearly blind. The car was still entirely in its original livery: original top, paint, interior, etc. It had amassed a mere 47,960 miles in the previous 55 years. The engine had never been rebuilt, repainted, etc. The engine number is 9EH 035769.Mr. Paradine started a very sympathetic restoration. He was not out to restore the car. But instead, he wanted to make cosmetic and mechanical improvements to make it a fun car to drive and take to shows.He had Broadway Glass and Trim in Merriville, Indiana re-trim the leather from the original dried out dark brown to the present two tone brown leather. The top was replaced using the original glass and frames for the unique rear windows in the correct tan Harrtz cloth convertible top.The original black paint was chipped and had some door dents (but absolutely no signs of accidents or major rot issues). We have since taken the Cosmo down to bare metal. The panel alignment and paint quality is absolutely fantastic. We used the same restoration shop as the many cars we've taken to Pebble Beach over the years. No corners were cut on the restoration. The engine had never been rebuilt, nor had it ever been painted. If you look carefully at the photos you will see that the original engine looked terrific for a 60+ year old car that had never been apart! The car drove well, had good oil pressure butneeded a top end ring replacement. The four-speed hydromatic automatic transmission shifted well. We have just started a complete and thorough rebuild of the engine and all major components. We recarpeting the car in the same manner that Cosmo's were produced. The carpet was all hand made out of two differing materials and placed together to provide the stripped look that is so unique. And it is just gorgeous!!This car has never been shown at events or AACA shows. This is a natural car to participate in such events because of its rarity. So few people can say theyve seen a gorgeous 1949 Lincoln Cosmopolitan Convertibles in person! Even in 1949 most people would never see one!Most car aficionados have never seen one of these gorgeous cars. It was bought by the present owner/restorer, Bill Monteleone in 2004 from a gentleman in Reseda, Ca who had stored the car for over 20 years and had amassed a huge collection of rare NOS parts. The NOS parts include accessories that one just never sees on a 1950 Ford.Shortly after Bill bought the car he embarked on a complete body-on restoration to very high standards. This Cadillac was restored in 2008 by the consignor, George. He bought the car in New Hamshire with an older restorationof a 55,000 mile car with white livery with red and white interior. It was in nice condition when George bought it five years ago.After he bought it he set outto complete frame up restoration. He preferred a black color scheme and thereforehad a base coat clear coat black paint job applied with gorgeous black leather interior installed. The body was stripped down to the cowl with all fenders, doors, hood and trunk lid removed for painting.There were only minute signs of rust but the little that was there was repaired with new metal.The chassis is still coated with the heavy tar undercoating of the period. The chrome isbeautiful with only some imperfections seen in the doorhandles.The engine was also removed and was cleaned out and fully inspected and determined to be excellent. The transmission was fully rebuilt and a new exhaust system installed.The carburetor, water pump and all ancillary items were rebuilt and cosmetically restored. He also installed new shocks, ball joints, new brakes drums and brake shs. The Coker steel belted wide white wall radials look fantastic and are the right choice for the car. Since the completion of the restoration four years ago George has driven the Cadillaca total of 6,100 miles (the odometer was reset to zero during restoration).The interior is all new and looks wonderful in all black. The dash pad and glove box liner are new and the entire passenger compartment and trunk are lined with sound deadener and a heat barrier. The electric windows were gone through and all systems work beautifully. The front seat is electric and of course it has power steering and brakes. The radio and speedometer were rebuilt and work well.To accent the gorgeous black livery George selected a new white convertible top. All the hydraulics are new, including the pump, rams and lines.This Cadillac comes with a full file of restoration history, many restoration photos and numerous awards from car shows.This is the nicest 1959 Cadillac convertible we've ever offered. It won everything there was to win... It is now for sale by the builder/driver in San Diego and it is ready to dominate what the US has to offer. This Mustang has over 600 HP to the rear wheels and was built as a no-expense spared vintage racer. We are very pleased to offer this very special consignment from Pedro, it's San Diego owner/builder/racer.This was built in 2000 from a very nice and solid car that normally would have been restored for show. Instead Pedro commenced a no-expense spared build of the perfect vintage race car. He started the restoration by placing the shell into acid for 24 hours to lighten the metal, giving it aluminum-like lightness. The car has all the necessary performance and safety upgrades necessary. He was sponsored by Ford Motor Company through their racing program so whatever he needed or wanted he received.During its development this Mustang spent about 50 hours on the Dyno. With a 406 cu in stroker motor, Richmond transmission, Tordsen differential, Wilwood brakes, this is ready to dominate the vintage racing tracks again. Some details include:1- The engine is a 351 stroked to 406 cu in.2- The engine was built by Efrain Veta in Mexico. He is the man that has built almost all of the winning Panamerica race engines for decades.3- It has a single Holy four barrel with 850 cfi.4- It has six piston calipers up front and four piston calipers in back.5- The front suspensionhas Eidach springs with Koni shocks. All the suspension is built up to the frame with metal ball joints. The rear suspension is leaf springs with Koni shocks.6- The differential is adjustable by the driver so adjust the height. All mounted on ball joint to the frame.7- It is the original steering box with a modified turn ratio.It has all the safety features as far as we know, including: 8 pt roll cage, FIA approved: seats, belts, fuel cell, rear window, windscreen holders, fire extinguishers, etc.Pedro was an affluent owner of one of Mexico's top restoration facilities- he had over 50 employees restoring cars in a top notch facility. So between the Ford sponsorship and his personal restoration facility this car was built and maintained without regard to cost. The owner is very interested in trades. The stack of receipts literally is several inches thick!! This has all the original (Rosso 514) paint, tan leather interior, glass, etc. Fully maintained since new, this Alfa is ready to add to the new owners collection!This Spider was bought new in San Diego and lived there all of its life until moving to Arizona for the last ten years. It is as rust free as an Alfa Spider can be. This Alfa has all of its original paint and has never been in any accident. We took several pictures of the undercarriage to show how clean and unmolested this Alfa is: all the shields are there and everything is clean and tidy. The paint is all original. No touch up has ever been performed since new! This Alfa has never been in an accident. It is a true survivor. There are several small scratches in the front that we have shown in the photos. There are also several small dime size door dings that can easily be repaired using a paintless dent removal service. The paint is excellent overall and is very glossy and vibrant- again, this Alfa has been garaged since new and it shows! There is a small area on the outside lip of the trunk area (near the trunk latch) that has superficial corrosion starting. This would be easy to clean up and correct. This is likely from excess water from regular car washes. The original leather is the supple tan Italian glove leather. It has the normal age cracking and shows some wear but has no tearing. The carpet is all original and very cool!! Even the dash is remarkable with no cracking whatsver. This Alfa has been garaged since new and is a fantastic survivor. We have installed a new correct tan canvas M convertible top and the Alfa comes complete with the original tan top boot. Everything works on this Alfa. It has dual chrome electric mirrors that work fine, the Clarion stereo still works well. The electric windows and all the lights work as they should. Mechanically the Alfa is very strong running. The fuel injection has been rebuilt and the valves adjusted within the past few thousand miles. The Pirelli radials have less than 4,000 miles but are now 12 years old (garaged the entire time). In December of 2013 we changed the oil, performed a complete tune up, new fuel filters and replaced the valve cover gasket. This will give the new owner a nice baseline for continued servicing. The trunk has the original spare tire, jack and tire wrench in the original burgundy factory pouch. The Alfa comes with the original owners manual and the complete documentation of its history including insurance cards, smog checks, service receipts, registration documents and the bill of sale from 1984. OWNERSHIP HISTORYThis Alfa was bought new in San Diego by Karen Hall Murphy. She kept the Spider until August of 1984 when she sold it to Frank Ashley of Mission Beach (San Diego). Ms. Murphy had accumulated 28,800 miles in the first three years of ownership. Frank Ashley bought the Alfa on August 14, 1984 and had paid $7,400.Mr. Ashley lived on Turquoise Street in Mission Beach in the same house since the early 1950s. Like his house near the Beach, this Alfa was his baby. He kept both until his health required him to move in with family in Arizona in 2004. In 2004, Franks nephew and estate executor moved the Alfa into his garage in Glendale, AZ. From new, this Alfa has had two families owning it.The mileage accumulation for this Alfa is:198428,000199843,000200064,000200366,000201368,000This Alfa is fully documented. From the Bill of Sale between Karen and Frank to every service receipt for the Alfa since 1984. It has been partially restored as a sharp looking driver that can be enjoyed as-is or continued to be improved over time. It is completely rust and accident free, freshly repainted, new interior and ready to drive! We love MGB GT's, especially with wire wheels and chrome bumpers!From 1988 until 2013 the MGB was with one California owner. It was bought by the last owner completely with its original paint and interior (both red). The new owner transported the car from California to Arizona and proceeded to restore most of it including:-Stripping the car down to metal and repainting it in black with red stripes-New interior in black vinyl with red piping, new carpet, headliner, etc.-New bumpers, front valance, and door seals-Brakes and other mechanical systems rebuilt, new or serviced-New radials, AM/FM CD with iPod input, etc.We just had the MGB serviced by The MG Shop here in Phnix. The engineer there rebuilt the speedometer resulting in the odometer reading changing from 78,000 miles to what you see in the photos now. The car likely has just over 78,000 miles from new. The paint and interior are not concours quality but what you would expect as driver quality. The heater is not operational and all other instruments, horns, lights, etc. work well. The turn signals don't cancel after a turn is completed. The steering wheel is the original and has cracks that need to be repaired or replaced, if desired with a wooden wheel. The transmission is perfect and feels terrific!! I love the close-throw transmission on this model. This is a completely rust and accident free MGB GT that can be enjoyed as is or improved over time.
